I get up pretty early in the morning and I'm always interested in what new infomercials are out there, so I'll sit and watch a few. One that comes to mind right off, because I watched it this morning, is The Perfect Pull and The Perfect Push Up.
I happen to know the Navy SEAL who invented it and appears on the spots, and let me tell you that he is one passionate guy and he has spent years developing and perfecting these products. He went through many failed attempts before his shows finally "hit" and became successful.
Infomercials are funny that way, a great product that works can tank while a product that sucks can really take off! I personally think that both of his products are excellent and very useful, but they also have some serious limitations.
For example, with The Perfect Push Up you can really only do one exercise effectively...a push up. You can spin it all you want and show a bunch of other exercises that are a stretch, but a push up is just about it.
The Perfect Pull up, on the other hand, can accomplish about 5 total. I'll agree that the average American doesn't need "over 400 muscle building exercises" like you see advertised elsewhere, but 5 exercises for $60 isn't a good value, even with the Ab Straps. (not to mention the holes you need to put in your door frame!
In addition to that, I can't really see a big guy being comfortable inside a door frame working out.
Why are these products making millions and something superior, like The Vegas Pro Straps, is struggling along? MARKETING! PERIOD! If we went pound for pound and compared The Vegas Pro Straps to both The Perfect Push Up and The Perfect Pull Up, The Vegas Pro Straps would win hands down every time. That is just my humble opinion of course.
I would challenge you to see for yourself...watch this video I did showing the many exercises you can perform with VPS and then watch the infomercial and make a decision for yourself.
If I had a million plus dollars for marketing I am pretty confident that I could do some serious numbers, but for now I guess I'll have to rely on my little web site, my cheap cam corder, and iMovie and hope that you will spread the word and help me get this product into the hands of serious people who are looking for alternative workouts.
Again, this article is not meant in any way to bash The Perfect Push up or Perfect pull up. Alden Mills has done an excellent job spreading the message of health and fitness to the masses and that I am very respectful of and also the fact that he served our country as a Navy SEAL and he could probably kick my butt if he wanted to!

Thankfully, we don't get too
Thankfully, we don't get too many informercials here in London. My early mornings often involve watching classic footage of episodes of American Health & Fitness. My girlfriend thinks Im crazy for viewing the same stuff again & again. But I really feel that the information is clear, & I can never see the demonstrations of technique enough times.
Little website? Cheap camcorder? This is the kind of stuff that keeps guys like us motivated!

Does it still show over there or do you have them on DVD or something?

Yeah. Would you believe I
Yeah. Would you believe I still have a functioning "video" player in my kitchen! I recorded the shows when they first came out over here & still watch them regularly. They're getting pritty grainy in quality now though but the information is still priceless!
I'll let you know if they start broadcasting them again.
All the best.
