Getting Started as a Personal Trainer

I was thinking of becoming a personal trainer, how do I get started?

John, congratulations on making a decision to tackle such a noble pursuit. We need more qualified people to step up and help an unfit population of Americans. As you are aware, there are a number of overweight, not to mention morbidly obese, people in this country.

The first and most important part of the process would be to become certified and gain an understanding of the human body and how it works. There are a number of organizations that can help you in that process. I am personally certified through the ISSA and I feel they are one of the best. In addition to an excellent curriculum on training they will also teach you some of the finer points on marketing yourself.

Other than that obvious piece of advice, I highly recommend that you “Live The Lifestyle” as I put it. There is nothing more appealing than an educated trainer with a great physique! You can check out the ISSA online.
