Put a New Spin on Your Cardio Workout

A few years ago I started Spinning as cardio, and let me tell you, if you don't cheat, it works! On average, you can expect to burn 400-500 calories per class and have fun while doing it. Treadmills can become very boring, but a Spinning class is full of other like-minded people all ready for a butt kicking 45-60 minutes.

In addition to the motivating class setting, typically you'll be drawn to an instructor that uses music that you like and that gets your juices flowing.

I notice when I Spin consistently, I see changes in my body that I don't normally see doing the same old mundane treadmill walks.

Fitness is about variety, having fun, and challenging yourself to reach new levels. Too many people get stuck in ruts and that is when all progress ceases, so do yourself a favor and change things up. Are you starting to see a pattern in my writing? Well, much of what I write comes after answering several questions that lead me to a subject, and this week it seems to be people asking me how to get lean and they preface it by saying, "This is what I do" and I say, "How long have you been doing that?" and they say, "Only about 2 years now."

I also need to mention not cheating during Spinning when the instructor says, "Okay, crank up the resistance." I can see my training partner act as if he is actually turning the knob when I know he isn't. The teacher knows it too. I have to confess however, I've done that myself a few times.

Anyway, if your gym offers Spin, don't be afraid. Go in and give it a try.
