Finding a Balance....

When I came to Seattle, I felt that I was doing the right thing for myself. I felt things would be better and create a lot more opportunities and open doors. All of that has happened but it’s been inconsistent and slowly happening. I don’t mind having certain things take time, however, my reasoning for being in a big city was to listen to my heart and ignore what my head was telling me.

One Step At a Time

For the last several months, I've felt as though I've had complete writers block. The reality is, I was making excuses for things that haven't gone very smoothly for a VERY LONG time. Just like everyone, I've been dealt some very painful experiences the last couple of years and have used these experiences to keep myself from fully focusing on myself, my goals, and my own life expectations.

Nutrition for Your Eyes

Staying healthy goes beyond having a steady workout regimen, the kitchen is an important step to maintaining a healthy body. When you're cooking and preparing a meal, do you ever think about the nutritional value you're not only giving your body, but to your eyes as well?

True Beauty

When I look in the mirror first thing in the morning, I see someone who has gained confidence over the years. I see someone who has continued to train hard in the gym and have been able to have the opportunity to change myself physically as well as mentally into a stronger person. I have recently taken a mental break from personal matters and focused just on staying physically active and the changes I’ve made have made me pleasantly surprised.

Least Favorite Exercise

I love working out, but I always have those days where I’d rather forget about hitting the gym and would like to sit down on the couch with a huge piece of chocolate cake and watch TV. However, I’ve taken pride in looking and feeling my best over the last year and I always seem to find motivation to keep heading to the gym. BUT, I still have exercises that I absolutely would love to forget about and NEVER do.

New Year Resolutions

Everyone seems to make some sort of resolution, most of the time people tend to make a plan to lose weight, get a gym membership, eat healthier etc. The problem is after about six weeks people lose the motivation, they find excuses and feel that giving up their favorite foods is not worth the effort.

Attitude of Gratitude

This week has been very rocky for me. I’ve dealt with more frustration and heartache than I’d like. My grandfather passed away on Tuesday and my car was hit in a grocery store parking lot with no note of any kind. When situations like this in the past have occurred for me, I used to find myself questioning “why me.” I made up my mind at the beginning of this month that I was going to look at any negative situation that occurs in my life with a positive outlook.

Inner Strength

For the last several months, I've dealt with a lot of heartache and frustration. I've kept myself busy with working out and eating healthy and trying to surround myself with the people that keep me positive and optimistic about life.

I moved to Seattle 4 months ago and love it here, but the frustration of trying to find a full time job to pay the bills is starting to get the best of me. I've had a lot of negativity that has come into my life over the last four months and it's recently become a daily challenge and struggle to continue to be optimistic about everything.

Fitness Model International 2009

I just came back from attending FMI yesterday and I cannot believe the amount of information and tools that were given to all of us that attended this incredible event.

I had originally found about this event when I started following Amber Elizabeth's career last September and at the time I didn't have the finances to make it. When I found out from Gary Warren that the event was going to happen again this year, I jumped on board as fast as I could.
