When Clark asked me to write a bio for his web site, I wasn’t really sure what to do. I’m not a fitness guy. I don’t have head shots and promotional material about my modeling career. It’s not often a guy like me is asked for this kind of thing. So I just sat down and started typing. The following is what I typed.
Born in Canton, Ohio in 1963. One of 7 children, 5 sisters and a brother. Wife Tricia, daughters Brittany and Bethany, granddaughter Bailey and son-in-law Rob.
I looked at it and realized that my family is who I am. In order to provide for my family, I work a demanding and stressful job. If you’re a guy (or woman for that matter) like me, I don’t need to say another word. You know what I’m talking about.
My contribution to this web site will be from that perspective. I have successfully fit resistance training into my life for the last 25 years or so. I’ll be sharing my experiences and what I’ve learned over the years by reading, experimentation and (here’s the big one) having the privilege of being able to call Clark any time I wanted to bounce idea’s off of when trying to fit all this into my schedule.
How I Started In Health and Fitness
I guess I got interested in weight training by watching Vasiliy Alekseyev in the 1972 Olympics. I would have been around 9 at the time and I remember being fascinated by how strong he was. My dad had an old weight bench in the basement and a 110 lb sand filled plastic weight set that you used to be able to get from the Montgomery Ward catalog. He would occasionally use it and I asked him one day to show me what he was doing. I was hooked.
Why I Love It
Man I really have to think about this. I guess it’s because I love how it makes me feel.
How I Stay Motivated
It’s not hard to stay motivated to do something you love. So, I guess I stay motivated by loving it. The good news is, loving it is something you can learn to do.
