I had a guy from Europe that is trying to make a name for himself in the fitness industry. He recently hired me to train him online and get him super ripped. Well anyway he asks me is it true that the top fitness models in the industry are at 12 percent during their offseason. I asked him who told you that. He said he watched a video blog of a top fitness model getting ready for a fitness modeling competition and the person said he was at 12 percent 11 weeks out from a fitness modeling competition.

Can you turn a no into a yes when a decision maker in the industry tells you no? Can it happen? Yes it can because it has happened to me many times in the industry. Just because someone says no now doesn’t mean that will say no a year later and I want to share with you an experience that hopefully someone can come out of reading this story and gain inspiration to do the things that is necessary to attain success in the fitness industry.

Always be prepared and physically fit for a spec shoot and a contracted magazine shoot. Any last fitness image that is printed of you in a fitness magazine you are honestly identified that way. They say perception is reality especially if you have a name in the fitness industry or you are trying to make a name for yourself. Never ever do a feature, cover shoot or fitness shoot less than your very best physically wise.

I’ve been very fortunate in my 15 months in the fitness industry to have attained success quicker than almost anybody that has laid foot in this industry. I really attribute that to so many good people that have helped me along the way. I always felt that success is never attained alone.

I only have a couple of more days left in Australia and I go back home. My experience in Australia could not be described in words. To be a featured guest at a natural bodybuilding and fitness show was an honor and privliege. Everybody was incredibly hospitable and nice to me at the show. There was a lot of great young fitness talent I witnessed at the show that you’ll see on covers in Australia very soon and hopefully in the U.S.

I’ve had many emails recently on my success more particularly on landing the international campaigns I’ve landed in 2009. To share with you a little of what I’ve done this year to make light that anybody can do it. So far I’ve landed four international supplement ad campaigns which is more than any male fitness model in the country today. I just recently landed an Australia supplement ad campaign that I will be shooting in May. How is this happening? Well the answer is very simple. Promote, Promote, Promote meaning yourself.

I’ve had this question posed to me several times and I think some people still have a hard time making the distinction. Well here it is: The difference between a fitness model and bodybuilder is this. A bodybuilder trains most of the time with heavy weights to build and maintain a large amount of muscle throughout the year.

I started this journey of going to back to getting my Masters Degree in November of 2007 a couple months removed from finishing my 2nd Bachelor’s degree. In many ways I can’t believe I am finally done with this. There were so many times that I wanted to quit and got very close because of the stress of multi-tasking too many things in 2008.
