Life Is Way Too Short!

Yesterday, I logged onto my Facebook account only to get a message from an old friend telling me some very bad news! A close friend that we used to run with back in high school was in a bad accident and has been on life support for the past 40 hours. His parents have made the awful decision that no parent should ever have to make, to go ahead and take him off of life support last evening. Shocked! That is pretty much my reaction. Here is a man in his mid 30's with so much life to live and in an instant it is over. Fair! Is it ever fair?

I just wanted to take the time to reflect on how short our time is on this planet and how we need to make the best of every day that we have. I just celebrated my birthday 2 days ago and my reaction was, ughhhh I am a year older! My reaction should have been, thank the Lord that I have made it another year! It is sad that it takes a tragic event to make us realize just how precious life is.

Living a healthy lifestyle is so important so we each can live life to the fullest. My friend, Jon knew what it was like to live life to the fullest. Though I hadn't seen him in years, we would communicate on Facebook about bodybuilding and competing. He had done some competitions himself so he knew how much work, dedication and sacrifice that it takes to get on stage. I am so happy that we were able to open the doors of communication again even if it was not in person.

Jon, rest in peace my friend and your memories will always remain! We shared some great times together and you always managed to put a smile on my face! You were certainly one of those people that marched to the beat of your own drum and never thought twice about living life to the fullest! You may be gone, but not forgotten.
