How many of you out there are tired of your same old cardio routine? Don't you wish you could get outside and enjoy the nice spring air? Well, maybe you should sign up for a boot camp.
My trainer and I run a boot camp every Saturday morning at a local high school track. With the weather getting warmer, our turnout is getting larger. Everyone loves the idea of getting a cardio session in outdoors with a group of people with a common goal, to get fit!
As a trainer, I think boot camp is such a great way to burn calories. It also gives you the opportunity to do exercises that you wouldn't be able to do in a gym. What I tell my clients is to look on the bright side, we are finished with a great workout by 8:00 AM on a Saturday before most people are even out of bed.
Here is a list of exercises that we do at our boot camp....
1)Start off with a warmup. Jog 4 times around the track, which equals 1 mile.
2)Run 10 bleachers with little or no rest.
3)Run 4 75 yard sprints.
4)Run 4 50 yard suicides.
Are you sweating yet?
5)Do 3 sets of 20 jump ups with a medicine ball.
6)Do 3 sets of 20 frog leaps.
7)Do an Indian Run around the track for 2 laps. This is where you line up in a single file line and the last person has to sprint to the front of the line. I don't mean run, I mean sprint:)
8)Lastly, take 1 cool down lap.
9)Don't forget to stretch!
10)Enjoy the rest of your Saturday because your workout is finished for the day.
This workout may seem like a lot, but each time you do it you will get more conditioned for it. Be sure to listen to your body and know your physical limitations. Go at your own pace and slowly work you way up through the whole program within 1 hour.
