For those of us that eat healthy, we know how challenging it can be to eat well while traveling. Airports are known for serving nothing but fast food. How do you travel and still eat well? I just traveled this past week and was starving while I was sitting in the airport waiting to board my flight. I made my way over to the airport store and purchased a water, raw almonds, raw cashews, and a banana. I also always travel with a mixer cup with 2 scoops of whey protein in it. I sat down and mixed my shake with water and ate the banana. I went from starving to satisfied for the time being, while getting in a natural carb and a healthy dose of protein.
About 45 minutes later it was time to board my flight and I could feel hunger creeping back. I am blessed with a very fast metabolism, so I eat just about every 1.5-2 hours. I took my seat and once the plane took to the air I munched on my raw almonds and cashews. Due to the high fat content of almonds and cashews, I was able to turn down the processed snacks that Southwest offers because my hunger had been satisfied.
Before I knew it my flight was touching down in my hometown of Louisville, KY. Once I retrieved my luggage I was off to my folks house for a good home cooked meal. I had managed to travel across the country without eating anything unhealthy. I just had to be a bit creative and make the right choices while I was in the airport and on the plane.
