What Is The Difference Between A Fitness Model And A Bodybuilder?

I’ve had this question posed to me several times and I think some people still have a hard time making the distinction. Well here it is: The difference between a fitness model and bodybuilder is this. A bodybuilder trains most of the time with heavy weights to build and maintain a large amount of muscle throughout the year.

They do very little cardio and if they do it is more like a walking on a treadmill or a stair-master. They have very little mobility because of their size and the large amount of muscle they carry. They are usually in shape about 1 to 2 times a year and during the offseason they are generally about 25 or more pounds over their competition weight. Many bodybuilders especially the non-natural ones have physiques that don’t appeal to the mainstream and are not attainable. Now let’s talk about what a fitness model is.

A fitness model’s physique is a very lean and more athletic physique. Think of wide receiver or a track and field sprinter. Their bodies would mirror these types of sports related positions. A fitness model is generally always in shape because at a moment’s notice they can receive a call for a photo shoot, infomercial or a fitness cover.

They don’t have the luxury of being given a lot of time to get in shape. If you’re not in shape at all times you are not a true fitness model. The idea of “I will be in shape during the summer time contradicts what a fitness model is and you will eliminate many jobs because of that mentality”. A fitness model’s physique is generally judged by their abs and how defined and lean they are. Your abs as a fitness model is basically your invitation to the fitness industry. The training of a fitness model is more circuit training, explosive weight lifting and high intensity cardio that allows you to burn calories but at the same time minimizes burning muscle mass.

Thank you for making this clear, I get the difference, it's quite a big difference actually. If I had to chose I would most definitely go for the fitness trainer, they are more athletic and that's what I aim for too but first I think a need to make a stop at SteroidSources.com and keep my physician close.
