Being the avid personal trainer (i.e. cheerleader) for numerous clients throughout the day, I am often asked how I stay motivated from the dieting to the long hours on the cardio machine and the strength and yoga training that I incorporate throughout the week. Well, I try to focus on the big picture and the small ones. There is always the ultimate goal of the big show, the particular weight or size goal but with an understanding that those long term goals take time it is necessary to focus on the smaller goals and accomplishments along the way. This is what keeps me going.
Finishing those last two minutes on the cardio machine, achieving that difficult yoga posture and obtaining the mental focus required to achieve that last rep (even when your body is resistant). Celebrating these small victories can keep us on track when the long term goals feel distant.
