Post Competition Blues!

Karen Mullarkey's picture

The competition is over, the tan is fading, and I can't quit eating! This is pretty much where I am at a week after the IFBB Phoenix Pro. How do I get back on track? I always give myself one week of rest post competition. My body is exhausted and I need a week off of lifting weights. I try and keep my cardio to a minimum so I can fully recover from the competition. I have managed to do two 30 minute cardio sessions this week and one 4 mile trail run. I have also tasted all of the foods that I missed while being on my strict competition diet.

Sad News...

Apparently Vancouver police have found the body of Andrew Koenig in Stanley Park. I'm saddened to hear of this tragedy as I had the chance to get to know Andrew while working with him on Batman Dead End. Andrew was a professional in every sense of the word and took acting very seriously.
My condolences go out to his family and loved ones. May God be with them during this hard time!

FMI SUCCESS STORY: IT IS A MATTER OF CONNECTIONS

Gary Warren's picture

I'm proud to announce that our (Clark & I) production has been able to produce real opportunities in mainstream commercial work on a national scale. FMI Presenter and Chicago-based, talent/sports agent, Ray Austin (Team Inc Talent) met both models and talents, Koya Webb of Los Angeles and Seattle-based Rachel Murray, at our 2009 Conference. Since then, all 3 have remained in communication with one another. 3 weeks ago, Ray submitted 25 female models for a national advertisement with the Target Corporation. Out of the 25 submissions both Koya and Rachel were chosen for the advertisement.

Least Favorite Exercise

I love working out, but I always have those days where I’d rather forget about hitting the gym and would like to sit down on the couch with a huge piece of chocolate cake and watch TV. However, I’ve taken pride in looking and feeling my best over the last year and I always seem to find motivation to keep heading to the gym. BUT, I still have exercises that I absolutely would love to forget about and NEVER do.

3 Days Out From The IFBB Phoenix Pro Show!

Karen Mullarkey's picture

AHHHHHH, I am in the home stretch and feeling a bit tired. I did not sleep well last night, so I am hoping to make up for that tonight. Sometimes it is hard to sleep when it is close to show time because my metabolism is amped up. Today, I started to carb up after a 4 day carb depletion-oatmeal and berries never tasted so good. The carbs should kick in by tomorrow and by Saturday my energy levels should be back to normal.

The WHO Killed!

Man, that was THE BEST half-time sow ever! 65 year old Roger Daltry, 64 year old Pete Townsend KLILLED IT! Man, how can a 64 year old man spin his arm like that so many times without dislocating it. Bravo to The Who.

Training with Rachel Q&A: Running hurts my knees, so how do I reach my fitness goals?!

RachelElizabeth's picture

I was recently asked this question by an old acquaintance. I know it's a common issue so I decided to share it, blog style! :)

Q:

What exercise would you recommend to someone who loves to run but can't very often because it hurts their knees? She is getting married in the fall and wants to shape up and running just isn't working for her anymore. Any help would be appreciated! : )

A:

First of all, ask yourself: do my running shoes support my feet correctly?? How old are they? -You need new running shoes at least every 6 months.
