laschutz's picture

in continuance from Part 1:

9) Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be.

10) Consider the rights of others before your own feelings and the feelings of others before your own rights.

11) Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.

12) Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability.

13) it's what you learn after you know it all that counts.

14) Talent is God-given. Be humble. Fame is man-given. Be grateful. Conceit is self-given. Be careful.

Hi everyone! this week's installment on inspiration for perspiration, which by the way is not just exercise and health related, but i hope spurs everyone in every aspect of your life, even in the smallest way comes from the quotes from the late, great legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden, who not only was a coach, but mentor and motivational leader to his players and to the world of sports.

1) Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.

2) Never mistake activity for achievement.

3) Be prepared and be honest.

Karen Mullarkey's picture

Well, I am back at it again. My last figure competition was back in February of this year. I am now just 12 days out from competing at the Tournament of Champions in Culver City, CA on September 11th. There is just one difference between now and then, I have decided to make the switch from figure to bikini. This is the first year they are allowing bikini at the Olympia and I figured, "What the Heck"!

laschutz's picture

just wanted to say what's up everyone! monday is my birthday, august 23rd, and no, i will not tell you how old i will be either, whether in years, months or days!

because in the rules i have made up in my own mind i'm 25 (again!) now, here me out this is where i came up with this number!

first off you can't count the years from being born to about 5 years old because you don't know what the heck is going on! lol!

and then you can't count the ages from 6 to 18 because you live at home and have to listen to your parents and what not!

Persistence + Positivity Pays Off

ezaler's picture

The past couple months since I have been in LA have been a roller coaster to say the least. I have dealt with some high highs, as well some low lows. I have been at the top of my game as well as the bottom. I have had some great successes, but along with them have come many failures.

However, two things that have been consistent since the move out here are:
1. Persistence and 2. Positivity

My Mentor

Karen Mullarkey's picture

I wanted to give a shout out to my trainer and best friend, Ernie Villegas on his birthday! Yes, trainers need trainers, too. I started training with Ernie of Ernie's Elite Team www.ernieseliteteam.com back in July of 2004 for my very 1st figure competition and have been training with him ever since. Ernie and I have been with each other through thick and thin. He has taught me so much about fitness and nutrition and he is the one responsible for changing my physique and lifestyle. I also have him to thank for guiding me down the road of personal training.

I had a wonderful opportunity to meet & briefly train with the US Navy seals & marines this weekend. I just want to say how impressed I was with their amazing condition! I have so much greater respect for them all. I genuinely feel they must be among the finest athletes in the world.
